Punk Chooks, Garden Fairies and Highlights of October

Goodness November is already here and it’s time to say goodbye to a wonderful rainy October in the garden that brought:

Very funky chicken hairdos! In just a couple of weeks we received a much needed 90mm of rain that brought the garden to life and filled our thirsty water tanks...

Rain inspired days of craft, making mosaics to brighten our garden paths...

Harvests of beautiful broccoli, broad beans in abundance, carrots that have such a strong carroty aroma, and as always, bunches and bunches of rainbow silverbeet...

Plantings of coriander, beetroot, onion, lettuce and alyssum...

And visits from a gorgeous garden fairy...

What were the highlights of October in your garden?

That is one cute little garden fairy. Love the mosaics too... I am hoping to do some homemade decorative stepping stones with my kids, to brighten our garden and make set areas that can be walked on, now we are developing our own food forest. Plus, today we did some craft, making recycled dingly-dangly's to keep the birds away from fruit/ vege's, with lots of colour too...

Oh my! I love the punk chooks! October here in Southern California has been as dry as usual. As the days get shorter, we have been putting in our cool season garden

Glad you enjoyed the photos from our garden :-)

Dixibelle, yes it sure is one cute garden fairy! Hope you had fun making your decorative stepping stones - it's so wonderful to have art in the garden.

Good luck with your cool season garden Mia!

Yes today was INSANELY hot wasn't it Donna - got to 38 degrees. You could just feel the desert in that westerly wind...we had to keep the water up to our new seedlings today.

Happy gardening!
