Natural Floors

Floorboards are a fantastic flooring option. They're a natural material, low allergy and can be cleaned with a microfiber mop - no vacuuming needed! Natural oils are a great way to protect your floors and bring them to life. They're also much more people and eco friendly than synthetic finishes like polyurethane.

We just oiled our floors with ‘Livos Ardvos wood oil’ from the Natural Paint Place, which is a linseed based oil. We found it really easy to work with, and the floors have come up brilliantly. An added bonus with these natural oils is that you can spot repair any scratches. Check out flooring article for more info.

Iv pulled up the carpet in my daughters room & sanded it. We simple rubbed in bees wax, It gives a nice soft satin finish, is easy to apply with a bit of elbow grease, It probably takes longer to apply as you have to rubb it in but thats made up by the lack of strong smells & it is ready to walk on almost straight away. also can be reapplied if needed. It been there over 8 months & still looks great.

Fantastic to hear of your success with a natural finishing product! We'd never heard much about applying bees wax when we looked into natural floor finishes. How many coats did you need to apply? It's great that you could walk on it straight away, how long until you could put furniture on? Is is anywhere in Wollongong you'd recommend buying bees wax from so we can share with anyone else that might be interested?
